The Improv Game
At the heart of our games are amazing people who adapt and improvise to the player’s choices, supporting and responding to everything you do.
Be they a hurried white rabbit, an excited Dormouse, or an absolute Hatter!
How are these bold beings able to cast aside social expectations and co-create a delightfully enticing world with you?
It’s known as improv, impro, or improvisational theatre.
And much like its widely accepted aliases, it welcomes all and is highly supportive.
Improv classes are popping up everywhere and there’s a very good reason for it.
It is incredibly addictive.
Unlike smack, improv is good for you.
It begins with fun games, the likes of which you may not have played for a long time.
And it is this bringing back of playtime that will bust your rabbit hole wide open.
It turns out that a jaunty little trip into our ‘other selves’ emits an infectious joy, and before you know it, you’re buzzing on absolutely nothing but fresh human energy!
Many of us find these other versions of ourselves are so welcomed, that we are drawn into doing it more. The thrill of giving and receiving the energy of joy is the addictive bit.
Improv cultivates a supportive energy.
Whether it is an intimate conversation in a twisted Wonderland, or a show with an audience - everyone is playing with and supporting each other.
The audience understands that everything is made up on the spot, their input brings them in to the show.
The players take suggestions, creating and building with positive conviction.
Then there is a wonderful moment when the energy is flowing through the audience and the players and we’re all in on what is happening together.
That’s the good stuff that is.
Those who frequent this rabbit hole often enough develop an incredible knack for inviting this energy and passing it among those they play with.
They take on many forms through a range of avenues (plus their aliases!), immersive theatre, interactive theatre, walkabout acts, improv troupes, festival performers, live shows, podcasts, TV and anything else that invites the improv muse.
These characters are what makes our games an absolute pleasure to play.
